Chronological/Topical Index

This Index is divided into two parts. Part One is a virtually exhaustive listing of biblical future prophecy passages in chronological-topical order. Part Two is a listing of all passages in Part One, presented in biblical order. Both listings are keyed to the Index Timeline (see illustration below) and to many of the figures and tables in What the Bible Says About the Future. Part One is particularly useful when studying a specific topic or period. Since the passages in Part One are grouped according to time and topic, finding other passages which relate to the topic under study is simplified. Part Two is helpful when studying a particular passage for which the reader needs to determine its chronological setting or find cross-references for further study.

How To Use Part 1

To find references to topics related to a particular period:

1.      Locate the time period by scanning through the listing in part 1 of the index, or consult the Index Timeline to find the chronological tag (“A,” “B,” “C1,” “C2,” “D,” “E”) then lookup that tag in part 1 of the index. (Tags appear at the top of the Index Timeline.)

2.      Once the appropriate section of the index is found, additional references to the subject or time period will be listed together.

To locate figures or tables dealing with a particular subject or time period:

1.      Find the chronological tag by scanning part 1 of the index, or by consulting the Index Timeline.

2.      Once the tag is found, use the tagged List of Figures and Tables (located in the Table of Contents) to find figures and tables with the same tag.

Note:   (?) A question mark indicates uncertainty regarding the categorization of a reference. In addition, subheadings ending in a lower case letter may not be in strict chronological order when compared to other subheadings with a lower case letter in the same section. Generally, lower case letters appended to subheading indicate topical groupings.

Part 2  Verse Order Listing

The following references are from part one above, but appear in biblical sequence (i.e., Genesis to Revelation).

How to use this listing

To find where the subject of a passage fits chronologically/topically:

1.      Find the passage in part 2 of the index (passages are listed in biblical order).

2.      Note the tag associated with the passage. This tag can be used to locate an event on the Index Timeline–or any other figure having the same tag. (When using the index for this purpose, ignore any lower case letter at the end of the tag.)

To find cross-references for specific passages:

1.      Locate the passage in part 2 of the index.

2.      Note the tag associated with the passage (some passages deal with multiple topics and, therefore, have more than one tag–likewise some figures and tables have more than one tag).

3.            Use the tag to locate additional references in part 1 of the index. (Also, check parent tags for additional information. For example: when researching C1v, also consult C1.)
