How to View and Download PDF files

To view or download PDF files, simply click on the link and wait for the Acrobat Reader tool bar to appear in your browser. At this point you can either scan through the pages on screen, or you can transfer the document to your local drive by clicking on the icon on the Acrobat tool bar that looks like a “disk” (a “floppy disk”).

If you want to transfer the document to your local drive, you do NOT have to wait for the entire document to load on screen before clicking on the save button (the “disk” icon).

Remember, some PDF files are large and will take time to load and download (some may take up to 30 minutes if you have a slow connection). In most cases PDF files will load in less than three minutes (or in a few seconds with a high speed connection). If downloading a file to your local drive, be sure to save it where you can find it latter.

If you just want to read the document on screen, you will find it simpler to just click on the HTML version. PDFs are page-formatted (like a printed book) for those who want to print documents for personal use, classroom use, or other  distribution.
